Tip 5:
What makes a good topic
Which options are available to you to formulate a good topic
A topic is the subject of a conversation. It’s the gist of the conversation – formulated in a few words.
Usually three categories of topics are discussed in doctor-patient consultations:
- The topics are certain symptoms or signs. For example: “I have a headache” or “My temperature is very high”.
- The topics are specific organs or parts of the body. The back, the heart or the knee may be the main concern.
- The topic might be treatment. In this case the subject might be a check-up, nutrition counselling or a follow-up examination.
The list of possible topics for doctor-patient consultations is endless.
